Business sustainability is defined as “Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. With the demands on our most precious resources, today’s organizations need strong, forward-thinking leaders who take an interdisciplinary approach to management, focusing not only on financial success but also on environmental and social responsibility. Through this course you will gain an understanding of the concepts required to sustain the triple bottom line – people, planet, and profit. This course focuses on the interdependence of environment, economy, and equity—the three Es of Sustainability— and the functions and responsibilities of managers at all levels to develop organized and effective sustainability practice. This short course will introduce the fundamental concept and knowledge of sustainability, tools to implement them such as Energy Management Systems (EMS), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), and how to design products for sustainability (D4S).
